Grown outdoors, it goes dormant from about late fall to early spring. Dormancy is recommended for outdoor plants but not strictly required. A winter plant may arrive small or die back to a bud; that is normal. Keep it cool (it can handle temperatures down to around freezing, like a flytrap) and keep the soil damp.
