Flytraps are dormant so they will be small, condensed rosettes. Sarracenia are also dormant and resume growth in Spring.

Heliamphora (Sun Pitcher Plant) Care Guide

Posted by Vincent Green on

This is a general care guide - it will be updated later for specific species.

Water:

Distilled, Reverse Osmosis, Rain or water with TDS under 100.

Keep media moist, the pot can sit in water so as to need little maintenance.

Light:

Medium light, these plants should receive around 10 hours of bright light.

Pitchers should get larger each time, aside from offshoots.

Temp:

Nearly all heliamphora are highland plants, the ideal temp range is daytime: 70-80 degrees, nighttime: 65 degrees. You can operate outside of this, but keep these numbers in mind.

Media:

Long fiber sphagnum moss and perlite 1:1. Live sphagnum is also great if you have it.
