Drosera 'Dreamsicle'
A Drosera filiformis cross that looks a lot like filiformis, with tall, threadlike leaves covered in super sticky dew, but in a redder orange color. The dew is strong enough to catch gnats, flies, moths and other flying insects.
Size and what arrives
- Pot size: 2" to 2.5" pot. Smaller plants sometimes ship in a 2" pot instead of our standard 2.5".
- What arrives: One Drosera 'Dreamsicle' plant, potted. The first photo shows the size we ship. The second photo shows a mature plant, to show how big they get after some growth. Photos are representative; actual size and color vary.
Care
An easy, beginner-friendly sundew. Give it bright light (full sun outdoors, a sunny window or strong grow lights), use only distilled, rain or RO water in a tray, and pot it in peat/perlite. In harsh sun or very hot summers, a 30% shade cloth helps. Full guide: Sundew care guide.
Shipping and live arrival
Ships Monday–Wednesday by USPS Priority Mail in its pot, wrapped and boxed. Covered by our live-arrival policy; cold damage is excluded unless a $3.49 shipping heat pack is added, so add one when nights are cold along the route.
Winter dormancy
Drosera 'Dreamsicle' is a temperate sundew. Grown outdoors, it goes dormant from about late fall to early spring. Dormancy is recommended for outdoor plants but not strictly required. A winter plant may arrive small or die back to a bud; that is normal. Keep it cool (it can handle temperatures down to around freezing, like a flytrap) and keep the soil damp. Growth returns in spring.
Grown indoors under grow lights on 14–16 hours a day, it skips dormancy and keeps growing year-round. Day length is what triggers dormancy, so avoid suddenly moving a plant between indoor lights and outdoor winter conditions.
